For people suffering from seasonal affective disorder, any form of light therapy may prove to be advantageous. Due to the bright light therapy having a few drawbacks, researchers began devising other forms of treatment that included use of light in a different more potent way.

Another form of treatment apart from the more common bright light one to treat seasonal affective disorder is the use of dawn simulators. It basically involves setting the timings so that the light comes on automatically form about half and hour to two hours before you wake up.
